Group Classes

Group Classes

Registration for Group Classes begins January 5th and ends January 11th

Each year, there are 6 terms and in each term there will be 7 lessons that last for 1 hour; one lesson each week, except for Term 6 which will have 6 lessons.

The price of classes with 3-4 students is $15/hour per student, classes with 5-7 students is $13/hour per student, and classes with 8-10 students is $10/hour per student. Payments must be made in full at least 3 days before the next term starts.

Once you are assigned to a group and have paid for the class, you will be in that class with the same students for that term. If you decide to continue in the same class the next term, you may be with new students.

Term 1 - January 19-24 to March 2-7 (7 lessons)

Term 2 - March 16-21 to April 27-May 2 (7 lessons)

Term 3 - May 11-16 to June 22-27 (7 lessons)

*No group classes from June 28, 2026-July 12, 2026*

Term 4 - July 13-18 to Aug 24-29 (7 lessons)

Term 5 - September 14-19 to Oct 26-31 (7 lessons)

Term 6 - November 9-14 to Dec 14-19 (6 lessons)

*No group classes from December 20, 2026-January 4, 2027*

General Business English Group Class(For levels A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2)

Do you currently have a job or want to have a job that requires you to be able to speak English with customers/clients, co-workers, managers and bosses effectively? Do you struggle to communicate in English fluently and have a hard time understanding what others are saying? If so, you aren't alone. Being able to communicate well in English in a business setting requires you to have a variety of skills that differ from general English. Becoming a better communicator in business English requires you to not only know and use vocabulary appropriate for formal situations (or more advanced vocabulary), you should also know and be able to use informal or casual expressions when speaking to coworkers, for example. Having more knowledge and a deeper understanding of various cultures can be useful if you have to speak to people from a variety of countries. Additionally, it's necessary to be able to understand English speakers with different accents, some of which may be more difficult to understand than others.
This class focuses on improving your speaking skills, listening skills, vocabulary, and fluency. There will be in-class listening exercises and vocabulary exercises. Before each class, you will have a set of key vocabulary words/phrases that you will need to study in preparation of the lesson. The vocabulary will be useful for you no matter what position you have at your company or field you happen to work in. There will be opportunities to engage in conversations with your classmates during the lessons. This class includes homework and may include quizzes/tests.

General English Group Class(For levels B1 and B2)

If you need English for travelling, working in an English speaking country, a visa, speaking with friends and family, or other everyday situations, then the General English Group Class is for you. The lessons are engaging, relevant, and fun, and each class is designed to improve your English language skills and give you more professional and academic options in the future. Your confidence will improve as I help you increase all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. We will also review grammar points and vocabulary. Learning more vocabulary will help you engage in conversations with other English speakers more easily and confidently. You will learn words, phrases, and idioms that native English speakers use every day. This class includes homework and may include quizzes/tests.

Academic English Group Class(For levels B1 and B2)

This class is for those who are currently attending a university in an English-speaking country or plan to attend. We will focus on improving your academic vocabulary (and everyday vocabulary), enhancing your speaking skills(including conversation and discussion), and improving your listening skills. There will be in-class exercises that help you practice any vocabulary that is learned as well as listening exercises. You will have the opportunity to discuss different topics with the other students in the class.
As a result of taking this class, your confidence will greatly increase, and you will be able to better understand your professors and engage in deeper and more meaningful discussions/conversations with your classmates/friends. This class includes homework and may include quizzes/tests.

Book Discussion Group Class(For levels A2 and B1)

If you enjoy reading books and would like to read (more) English books and actually understand them, then this class is for you. Many students try to read books that are too advanced for their level and have to stop many times to look up tons of vocabulary. That method will not help you improve your English reading skills or vocabulary as you will get tired of constantly looking up the meaning of words/phrases and will, more than likely, give up.
In this class, you will read an interesting novel that I select that is appropriate for your level. You will not need to constantly look up words/phrases as most will be familiar to you and the others you will be able to understand based on the context. In each lesson, we will focus on a particular chapter (or chapters), and I will ask you questions related to the content of that chapter (or chapters).
This class will not only help you improve your reading comprehension skills, it will also help you become more skilled at discussing various topics with others. In each class, you will have the opportunity to discuss subjects related to the book with your classmates. You will also notice your listening skills improving as you answer my questions and answer the questions of your group mates.
Additionally, this class focuses on improving your vocabulary skills. Each chapter has key vocabulary that you will be required to review. You will be given the chance to use the vocabulary during each lesson and also do vocabulary exercises. This class includes homework and may include quizzes/tests.

Short Story Discussion Group Class(For levels A2, B1, and B2)

Do you enjoy reading, but prefer shorter texts? If so, the Short Story Discussion Group Class is best for you. Similar to the Book Discussion Group Class, I will select interesting short stories for you to read based on your level. In each lesson, we will focus on one short story, and I will ask you questions related to it. This class will allow you to get more practice with listening as you will need to answer my questions and the questions of the other students when you discuss the short story or subjects related to it together.
Each short story has key vocabulary that you will need to study in preparation of our lesson. This class will improve your reading comprehension skills and expand and deepen your vocabulary. This class includes homework.

TV Series Discussion Group Class(For levels A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2)

If you like watching American TV series and would enjoy discussing them with others, then you should sign up for this group class. Watching TV series can be a great way to improve your listening skills and vocabulary, but only if the series is appropriate for your level. Many students try to watch a series that is way above their level and struggle to understand what is being said. It can be difficult to understand the characters in TV series because they often speak too quickly or use phrases or idioms that native English speakers use. You won't have to worry about that in this class.
I will select a TV series that is just right for your level. In each lesson, we will focus on part of one particular episode of a TV series. As you watch the series, you will hear many new and useful words, phrases, idioms, etc., but it won't be overwhelming and cause you to have to constantly pause the video to look up words or rewind the video again and again. Before each lesson, I will send you a list of key vocabulary words/phrases that will help prepare you for the episode before you even start watching it. You will learn vocabulary that is commonly used by native speakers. There will be vocabulary exercises during each lesson, giving you the chance to practice what you learned.
As a result of taking this class, you will notice a significant improvement in your ability to understand, not only what people are saying in a TV show or movie, but also people who you communicate with in real life. You will be given the chance to have discussions with your classmates about the show or subject related to it. This class includes homework.

Movie Discussion Group Class(For levels A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2)

Do you like watching American movies, but sometimes have a hard time understanding them completely? That is a common struggle that students have when watching a TV series or movie. Either the characters speak too fast, use phrases or expressions that are difficult to understand, or they may have an accent that is not so easy to understand. If you would like to be able to watch movies with ease, then you should take the Movie Discussion Group Class.
Similar to the TV Series Discussion Group class, I will select a movie that is suitable for your level, and I will ask you questions related to it. In each lesson, we will focus on a specific part of a movie. For example, I might ask you to watch 20 minutes of an hour and 30-minute movie and we will discuss the first 20 minutes during one lesson. We will focus on improving your listening skills, speaking skills, and vocabulary. You will be able to discuss things that happened in the movie with your group mates and ask each other questions related to the subject. This class includes homework.
